I like receiving birthday gifts

I've been feeling down lately. It's the renos, it's the state of the house, it's postponing my birthday party, it's being sick, it's having a sick daughter, it's Mabo, it's the vibe...

It's been coming through in my blog posts, and it's time to turn it on its head with something positive. And maybe even a bit fun.

My thirtieth has been continuing on much longer than it should with presents, cards and a whole lotta love. And, while I normally prefer to give presents rather than receive, I have to say it's been a whole lotta fun.

So here are a few of my favourite things thirtieth gifts. They almost rhyme. Almost.

Ahem.

Diamond stud earrings that go 'sparkle sparkle'

Tiffany bling in a turquoise pass the parcel

Books from my daughter to give me a lift

These are a few of my thirtieth gifts

(Instrumental)

The Historical Thesaurus of the Oxford English Dictionary
Something I've been asking for since 2010 (January)

A word book, a phrase book, and another nerdy tome

That already have friends and feel right at home...

When the renos drag
When my party's delayed
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my thirtieth gifts
And then I don't feel so bad!

Classy black gloves and some clothes from Review
(It feels so nice to wear things that are new!)

Money and vouchers to buy new knick-knacks
To brighten up the place when we get our house back!

When the tradies are here
When it's noisy
When I'm over it
I simply remember my thirtieth gifts
And then I don't feel so s**t!

Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week. Try the birthday cake.

What's the best gift you've ever received for your birthday?

Linking up with My Little Drummer Boys for Wordless Wednesday. I know there are a lot of words, but you're supposed to pretend the words are actually a backing vocal sung by me. Or Julie Andrews. Same same.

A pair of babies wins hands down, though.

    1. Definitely - it was my first one! Not including some slightly off-shade aqua/turquoise (green) boxes from Thailand. x
